I have been enjoying Tiara Dinners for a number of years now. It is definitely fun to define a theme for the evening, top my self with a tiara, and go out with friends. However, the idea of being a princess means so much more than dressing up and being served. Julie Andrews' character in Princess Diaries says, "It's a real job." Demi Lavato's character in Princess Protection Program says, "It's not about what the world has to offer you but what you have to offer to the world." I know that this is a Christian concept turned into Disney movies. Christ said it first as it is recorded in Matthew 20:28, "just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
I have been praying about this idea for some time. The Tiara Dinners need to mean more. They need to be a time to get together and lift up our sisters in Christ, but we also need to be serving in some way. What do we have to offer to the world as Christian royalty? We have Christ to offer to the world!
Just before my annual event, I saw a post on facebook by a friend mentioning a need. She had partnered with Redeemed Ministries Austin to help fight against human trafficking. Bingo! I'm honestly too nervous to be in the middle of what my bold friend is doing, but she provided me a way to support it. I asked my friends to bring me supplies that the RMA could use in ministering to these ladies. Now we are serving. I'm excited to put together these packages and share in this ministry in a very small way. What we are doing now as a part of the Tiara Dinners is not the hard work, that remains for RMA. They need our prayers and support behind the scenes of what they do. They are surely in the trenches of rescuing princesses from the enemy!
If anyone is interested, please let me know or look up Redeemed Ministries Austin on facebook.
